Invest in a rice dryer, contributing to reducing post-harvest losses

In order to reduce post-harvest losses in rice production, it is necessary to invest in mechanization from sowing to harvest, and to apply technologies to production.

Currently, in unusual weather conditions, many farmers, after harvesting rice, cannot sell it to traders and have to store it. However, the area of drying yards in many localities is still small and the requirements for the quality of rice grain are increasing, so it is necessary to promote investment in rice drying ovens according to modern technology , in order to achieve a high-quality production. sustainable agriculture.

Realizing that local people, when the harvest season falls on the right rainy season, often face many difficulties in drying rice and lead to price pressure, so after visiting the model of a rice drying kiln in Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Mr. Duong Hoang Tan, living in Bang Lang hamlet, Tan Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district has boldly invested in a high-tech drying oven, with a tower dryer model , which does not pollute the environment. Estimated cost is over 10 billion VND with 6 dryers, capacity 45 – 50 tons/shift, average time is 12-14 hours per shift.

But so far, he has only invested 2 dryers and a rice warehouse with an estimated cost of about 5 billion VND, expected to be put into operation in a few days.
Anh Tan shared:

“Understanding the suffering of farmers after harvesting rice that cannot be dried due to rain and storms as well as seeing the necessity of drying rice, I invested in building a factory, hoping to meet the demand for drying rice later. farmer’s harvest. After drying the rice, farmers can sell it to traders or store it in the factory’s warehouse.”

Secretary and Chairman of Tan Ninh Commune People’s Committee – Nguyen Hoang Han said:

“Currently, the whole commune has over 2,190ha of three crops of rice. The average output per crop is over 17,000 tons. Farmers often sell fresh rice at the field or take advantage of the sun to dry the rice.

However, drying rice depends on sunlight, the possibility of loss is very high, not to mention harvesting in the rainy season.

In order to reduce post-harvest losses in rice production, it is necessary to invest in mechanization from sowing to harvest, and to apply technologies to production.

Currently, Mr. Tan’s drying kiln model is the first model in the district, according to local leaders, this is a model that will bring high efficiency.

Harvesting rice in the rainy season, if it is dried well, the loss rate will be reduced, helping to improve the quality of commercial rice seeds, rice seeds, farmers can easily store, not moldy.
